Dynamic Mapping between the Controlled-Load IntServ Service and the Assured Forward DiffServ PHB

چکیده
This work addresses the interconnection of the IntServ and DiffServ models. In particular, new mapping mechanisms between the Controlled-Load service (CL) of the IntServ model and the Assured Forward (AF) Per-HopBehaviours group of the DiffServ model, are proposed and analysed by simulation. The proposed mechanisms have a dynamic nature and they are associated to an admission control such that the state of the network is reflected in the new admission decisions of the new IntServ flows into the DiffServ network. For the same IntServ destination network, the behaviour of the previous flows is taken into account. The results show that the functionality of IntServ networks can be extended through DiffServ regions without perceptible degradation of QoS. Moreover the dynamic mapping mechanisms take into account the state of the network, improve the use of the available resources for each AF class and guarantee the AF class QoS even when congestion rises.

Bandwidth Management in IntServ to DiffServ Mapping
This work presents a bandwidth management mechanism to be used with mapping mechanisms between Integrated Services (IntServ) and Differentiated Services (DiffServ) domains. The mapping mechanisms have a dynamic nature and are associated with the Admission Control functions such that the state of the network is reflected in the admission decisions of new IntServ flows into the DiffServ network. ...
متن کاملDynamic User-Oriented QoS Specification and Mapping for Multimedia Differentiation Services
This paper proposes the Dynamic User-Oriented QoS Framework (DUQF), which provides the effective adaptation control schemes for dynamic QoS specification and mapping based on the combination of DiffServ and IntServ network architecture. A DUQF network consists of a DiffServ WAN and lots of attached IntServ LANs that connect to each other via a RSVP-aware router and a differentiation edge router...
متن کاملExperimental Study of Bandwidth Assurance in a DiffServ Network
Inside DiffServ, the Assured Forwarding per hop behavior defines a service that guarantees the contracted target rate to the users and allows consuming more bandwidth if the network load is low. In this paper we perform an experimental study, whose key contribution is that current techniques and commercial equipment do not meet the goals of the AF PHB service in a scalable way.
متن کاملA flexible soft DiffServ test-bed
We have constructed a teaching and research SLA test-bed using specially developed soft DiffServ routing nodes operating in a Linux environment. The test-bed, and the associated tools, is intended for various levels of study of SLA translation and mapping algorithms. It is instrumented to provide considerable insight into the DiffServ behavior. The software is more modular, flexible and easier ...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of relative service using TCP-aware marking and dynamic WRED
The implementation of successful assured forwarding (AF) services according to the DiffServ framework remains a challenging problem today, despite the numerous proposals for assured forwarding per-hopbehaviour (AF PHB) mechanisms and AF-based service implementations. The interaction of the TCP and UDP traffic under an AF-based service and a number of relative issues such as fairness among flows...
